WOW! WHAT A NIGHT!

After all of the planning, the hard work, the networking , the marketing and of course gathering all of the goodies together the Trunk or Treat finally happened. Man, did it ever happen. It was a great night, Thank you Kansas City and thanks to FOX4KC News and Kelly Eckerman for doing that news piece on Alcott about the Trunk or Treat and the heat issue that Alcott has.

The kids started arriving early, so we opened up before we were even ready, what a way to start it all. They came ready for candy and to get their faces painted, all excited as they walked the path to collect their reward at the end. It was great to see the diversity of the crowd and the costumes. As many of you know The Alcott Arts Center interacts throughout the KC Metro Area , so this brought others into our community to enjoy the festivities. We had close to Six hundred Kids with a grand total in attendance around One Thousand including the Volunteers and Alcott Staff.

Thanks go out to everyone that made this event a success!

Halloween Trunk or Treat a Huge Success!!!!!
For the first time we have passed the 500 children in one night mark, actually it was closer to six hundred but who pays any attention to that. (We do!) There were right around one thousand people total throughout the night, donning a variety of costumes.
Sheryl Nance-Durst was there again painting faces like mad. She of course she didn’t get to paint everyone’s face but she painted just over 75 faces in two hours. What an incredible person. It was her third year at our Trunk or Treat, something tons of people look forward to every year. Thanks Sheryl!
All of the Volunteers that helped tirelessly throughout the day were incredible, what took five hours to construct took one hour to take down. Some even helped with set-up and then came back in costume to help pass out goodies. Huge thanks to all of them.
It was great to see all of the Alcott friends come out in costume and in support, hope you had a great time!
Our sponsors were also great this year, as a matter of fact Chas Ball’s Sunfresh who had donated the majority of this years candy was called on with an emergency issue. We ran out of candy by 6pm, that was not good on one hand and great on the other,. It meant that we had already seen two hundred Kid’s in the first hour. We ran to Ball’s Sunfresh in a panic, where Tom made sure that we would have enough to last the evening, going way above and beyond the call. Our sponsors list will be even bigger next year as will be the event!

Sad to close for the winter now but what a way to end the year! Being able to give back to the KC Metro ‘s children. There were kids from all over the metro area due so many people helping us get the word out.
Thanks again!

Halloween October 31st 5-8p.m.
 ”Trunk or Treat”
at the Alcott
Bring the kids dressed in costume and walk through our “Haunted Forest” looking for the candy at the end of the trail.
This is Alcott’s Sixth Annual Trunk or Treat Event. We are pleased that last year we had around 200 kids attend the “TorT” but we expect a lot more this year. It’s a safe way for the kids to trick or treat and in Artistic environment. This is one of the ways that Alcott with the help of others gives back to the community. Our dear friend Sheryl Nance-Durst will be painting faces once more. This is her third year and she always does an incredible job! check out her website at www.embellishedbody.com
