The Simply Kitt’s Foundation is pleased to announce a Memorial Art Display for the weekend of September 11 (12 pm - 6 pm) and 12 (12 pm - 5 pm), in honor of Kayleigh “Kitt” Van Hassel, who passed away January 2, 2020.
In celebration of what would have been her 32nd birthday and in conjunction with our annual fund raising drive for the Kayleigh “Kitt” Van Hassel Memorial Scholarship Fund, we will be presenting an art show open for artists or friends to bring forward art that is in commemoration of her life, or inspired by her art or spirit and will be displayed at the lovely Alcott Center in Kansas City.
We are requesting that artists submit a letter of intent and/or pictures of pieces they would like to exhibit via email to simply.kitt@gmail.com by August 15, 2021 Submitted pieces should include a short description of how she influenced or inspired the work along with the artist’s name and location..
As part of our fundraising campaign, we are asking exhibiting artists if they would consider contributing pieces to be sold to benefit the Memorial Scholarship Fund. We are aware that many of these works may be personal or of deep meaning to the artist, so this is meant to be a strictly voluntary contribution. No artist is required to contribute, and there is no admission fee for prospective exhibitors.
The SImply Kitts Foundation is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit corporation that puts all proceeds towards the endowment of a scholarship to benefit Illustration students at Kansas City Art Institute.
We are working out the details of each day’s activities, but hope we can count on the people she touched in her life to show up and celebrate her spirit together.
